I am putting together a table of timber yards, with information from members who have actually visited the yards. Can you please help with information about Morgan Timber?

Are they hobby friendly?

Can you self-select or is it by appointment?

Will they deliver?

Do they have online ordering?

Are prices displayed at the yard?

Do they sell domestic hardwoods?

Do they sell other hardwoods?

Do they sell softwoods?

Do they sell manufactured boards?

Do they sell turning blanks?

Are they a one-man-band or a small, medium or large yard?

Will they cut to length to fit in your vehicle?

Do you have any comments?

Are they hobby friendly?
yes, but being a large commercial yard there unlikely to want to spend hours with a customer buying one small board.

Can you self-select or is it by appointment?
Self selection is fine but will be escorted by a member of staff.

Will they deliver?
Yes they usually give you a certain day for certain area

Do they have online ordering?
not as such

Are prices displayed at the yard?
no

Do they sell domestic hardwoods?
yes

Do they sell other hardwoods?
yes

Do they sell softwoods?
yes

Do they sell manufactured boards?
yes

Do they sell turning blanks?
No but they usually have a few pallets of board ends with some great bargains to be had in a large selection of woods, Its the sort of place that would probably cut you a bowl shape if asked, but i cant confirm this.

Are they a one-man-band or a small, medium or large yard?
Massive yard

Will they cut to length to fit in your vehicle?
yes

Do you have any comments?
Very impressive old fashioned timber yard with a fantastic mill filled with a mix of giant modern and vintage machinery. Massive selection of timber including large sections, I saw some 8m long planks of oak 1000mm x 100mm!! :shock: :shock: Staff are very helpful and accommodating!

Only thing I will add is there are no prices on anything but the offcuts, so can sometimes be a shock after you have loaded your vehicle and driven round to the payment office. Commercially I would have a good idea of the amounts I need and a rough idea of cost, this could have already been pulled from the stack and paid for.
