Just as an inspiration to others working on a minimum budget:

I made a stair saw for myself.
The wood is home grown birch. The blade comes from an almost complete 1970-ies tennon saw which I bought at a flea market. It was missing a few minor parts such as the handle and the back and It was a bit dull :roll:
The screws and nuts costed about one euro at a local hardware store.

 
For cutting dadoes and sliding dowetails in cross grain. You make two cuts with the stair saw and use a router plane to rout out the wood between them.

The depth of cut is set with the two screws on the saw. The wooden body acts as depth stop.
 
oh now that that is explained i can see just how useful this tool might be especially for on site work. It's not a looker though is it. Actually the more i think about this saw the more uses i can find for it. I may make this one. Thanks very much.
