And while that was doing I also made a cutting board from the Oak from last weeks desk. Going to be going to a good friend who just got married in Vegas (a planned vegas wedding!) so thought this would make a nice present. I'm going to laminate some Black Walnut onto the vertical sides, sort of like breadboard. Needs a sanding and some Food Safe oil. I had toyed with infilling the circles of the sign with black walnut too, but I think it will be to dominating?

Ripped again between these pictures and rotated to get the end grain block.

Its most defo not my CNC, its a 70k model that has a suction bed and auto tool change station with 15 bits or so. Its an amazing bit of kit. Its my sisters other halfs family buisness that has it., I did there new website for them in return for CNC credits! They do all sort of work on it mostly signage but do solid oak carvings for period kitchens anything you can think of really, its the life blood of their buisness.

I've actually bought one axis of a CNC kit for my motorized router project and will defiantly look into making a CNC in the near future now I have know how.

Thanks guys,

I didn't do very good at keeping this a WIP. I just forget and forge on.

Anyway finished them a few days ago, finished with food safe oil which made them darker than I'd like. I think I read somewhere that you haven't arrived as a woodworker until you can make a chair. I'm sure thats true, but after doing these 2 littles ones I'm going to say I've got a way to go yet before I've arrived!

Where are the images gone, I was following this with interest! Chems would you mind sharing your sketch up plans with me? I plan to make a kids chair but with a box under the seat for storage (or maybe a sealed hope chest to be opened on their 21st birthday or something). I really like the dimensions of your chair. I have a nice piece of maple to start, just need to decide on the dimensions before I grab the tools out.

Thanks a mill, sorry my Internet was not showing the images just the text. Sorted now. Many thanks

absolutly stunning chems they look beautiful :D
Is it all made from beech timber ?
When I go back to college in september we ill be making a adult size rocking chair,
so will I have arrived when its complete :D :D
Keep up the good work

Thanks Worsley, yes solid beech. If you make super rocking chair then I think yes, you will have arrived! Lots of dry fits and sub assemblies I think is the key.

Thanks both, yeah the beech is nice, its so cheap but its really quite attractive and good to work with surprised people don't use it more.
