1" honeycomb material for thick table tops?

I saw an article in Fine Woodworking where the chap made a contemporary table with a thick 2" veneered top. To save on weight he used a combination of 6mm mdf and honeycomb cardboard type material which was glued together with resin and then vacuum bagged.

Just wondering whether anyone know where you can purchase this 1" thick honeycomb sheet material from

I bought some honeycomb material recently - 32mm and 38mm - see my post here and the end result here.

All good ideas above.
It's also very easy to make your own from sheet of backing board from an art suppliers. It' like MDF only 1 or 2 mm thick. Rip it into strips.
Drill a hole at one end of each strip.
Bolt them all together (well all the long ones first, then, separately, all the short ones)
Fit a thin-kerf blade to your saw. 2.4mm is ideal for 2mm stock
Set the blade height to half your width.
Fit an overhead guard.
Make a series if passes to make the halving joints.
Repeat with all the short pieces
They will all slot together nicely.

Not quite as light as the bought stuff, probably, but perfectly doable, especially if you don't want very much.

For the effort involved, at those thicknesses you are probably better looking at lightweight MDF or something like Egger eurolight. I was at W12 at the weekend and Finsa had a couple of lightweight products too that looked good.

I looked at the honeycomb material for a recent job and thought that it wasn't worth the hassle, and whilst relaatively cheap, I think they have a minimum order that is something of the order of £100+VAT, +Delivery.
