Two rules i forgot to mention, but think its common sense, is put your hand plane on its side not its bottom. And the other is always clean up at the end of the working day and put all them tools away properly!
 
My 'Golden Rule?'

Every job is different. So plan ahead, because 'Failing to Plan is Planning to Fail'.

As for not rushing things, at my time of life, there is no other way but slow! Which is why my machines are getting less frequent use. While I still have all my digits! :)

I just realised.

In my other post, suppose I did mention 5 rules after all.

1) Every job is different
2 Plan ahead
3) Don't rush anything.
4) Use hand-tools as much as possible.
5) Always be aware of cutting edges, machine or otherwise!
