Yandles! - Annoyed

A few weeks ago I ordered a Kreg mini jig from Yandles along with a plane sock from Veritas. They phoned me up to tell me that the plane sock wasn't in stock (I'm sure the website said it was). I replied saying "ok just knock it off the order as long as the Kreg jig is available as that's the main thing I need urgently". Got a reply that this also wasn't in stock although the site definitely said it was. So after some tooing and frooing I cancelled the whole order.

Roll forward a couple of weeks and I'd got my mini jig from elsewhere, decided I also needed the K5 and ordered from Yandles, along with some screws and once again the plane sock. It's been a week since I ordered and I've got nothing and I've had zero communication from them.

I'm shocked at their customer service and just find myself being annoyed that Axminster don't sell Kreg.

I've emailed Yandles and hope it gets sorted quickly, but I really need to be using it. I thought ordering on Tue that I'd have it by the weekend!

Anyone else had similar experiences with them?
 
Yup. I tried to buy a bandsaw from them. When I said I wanted it shipped to cyprus he laughed me out the store. literally. My wife and I have never seen anything like that behaviour. We wont be back.

I bought the bandsaw from axminster, they delivered it with pleasure and helped with what problems i did have setting it up.

I've always rated yandles, but normally that involves visiting the shop rather than mail order. They've always managed to price match internet prices for me.
 
They left their phones switched to "We are out of the office" for a whole day once. I even went as far as posting on their facebook page to that effect, nobody ever got back to me.

I expect, as Woodmonkey said, dealing with the store directly is better.

I've ordered successfully online, item must have actually been in stock though :)
 
I do use Yandles but have never been impressed with the attitude of the staff or customer service. I remember trying to buy a Trend T5 router some years ago. They said it was under recall for a mod by Trend and they would phone when back in stock. Still waiting! :roll:

Should be any day now. :)
I will be there Friday as well.
 
I have ordered stuff from them, but having decided what i want, phoned to order and make them check they have it before placing the order.

There was a older gent working there who used to tell me what days he was in for me to ring, suggesting that he had little faith in others being able to help. Can't recall his name, but others may know who i mean. He might sort out the problem for you.

I bought three boards of heavily rippled Oak from them, it's a pretty rare find and I asked if they had any more. Unfortunately they hadn't, but about a month later they phoned me to say they's just uncovered six more just as good and would I like them. Yes please I replied, but I'm snowed under and can't get to you for a month, not a problem we'll put in on one side. Four weeks later and good as their word, it was still there and ready for collection.

I loved them then and I love them now!
 
Good to hear a positive. I got a call from them today following my email and various social media posts. They explained it was the plane sock that was out of stock and that they could part ship. So my Kreg jig and screws should be with me shortly and then the sock to follow. I did get good customer service today but I still feel they should have called me much sooner and I feel had I not emailed etc then I wouldn't have had the call. They have waived their delivery charge. So overall I'm feeling better, but the proof will be in the delivery!

You are in for a treat if you haven't been there before Bob, their self selection timber area is an Aladdin's cave. I can easily spend 2 or 3 hours picking through it. Best bring a roof rack/ trailer/ van...

what...spend money at a woodworking show....me!!!!!

I'll be meeting Chas for the first time too...he's on the Chestnut stand so why don't we agree to meet at the Chestnut stand at noon so we can all at least put a face to the names??
 
Not sure what the plan is as there are two cars of us but will do if I can.
 
I don't think Yandles are particularly reliable in this respect. If memory serves a mate had a problem getting delivery of a ProEdge which he ended up actually going to Yandles to collect. Hope your order turns up soon.
 
My recent order had an "order despatched" email the day before delivery, if you've not had one of those yet, I wouldn't hold much hope.
 
Well my mail order experience has been good. I bought from Record Power at last years Spring show and Yandles made a balls of the delivery/order but it was soon sorted, don't know who to blame. I shall be there on Friday also, so il wag a finger for you!
