Just back, after stop-off for food in Bristol.
Field 3/4 full by the time I got there at 10.30 ish.
Heaving until lunchtime, and another surge of folk after lunchtime, dwindling to minimal by 16.15.
I did not spend much time browsing but think they have packed extra traders in the main sheds, impression was not all easy to get a decent overall view of the individual stands and some associated demos were hard to gain an access to because of the narrower spaces, layout considerably different from what old visitors may have got used to.

Lot of demos and clubs in the 'tents'

Wood stocks were considerable when I did a walkthrough of the flatwood sheds and turning blanks seemed in good supply.
A lot more oddments bins doted around to pick over than I've seen before, guess the missing spring show may be the reason for those and the high volume of visitors looking for supplies.

Heard whisperings about there may not be spring show 2019, don't know where that came, hopefully just some sharp practice marketing pundit trying to move product spreading false news.

Yup. Went yesterday. As I live less than an hour's drive from Yandles I have been going for several years. I feel that the number of show stands has been getting less over the past 2 years or so.

Nice to see the USA coming into U.K. in the form of Rockler. Seem to be tied up with Silverline as they were using all Triton power tools. Spoke to one of their reps and this was the first entry to be followed in a few months by their full inventory. Still working on their European web site.

And yes, Yandles will only be doing an Autumn show in future. It's on their web site.

THanks Both,

Went today, took my lad (age 6). He enjoyed picking through the off-cuts bin, wants to make a pub skittles type game so was ideal.

Not sure whether over the years I’ve bought pretty much everything by way of kit and the demos are really all sales ads rather than impartial passing on of skills so did leave me a bit underwhelmed but good morning out with my boy and he’s excited about the project so can’t knock that!

PS - Terry was there so picked up a tester set of his new iridescent paint range.

Looking forward to trying these through the airbrush although did look to have a good level of solids in the bottles that need a shake so wil see how they spray (and how easy it is to clean airbrush after each colour to swap between them when spraying a project!)

Simon.

Bummer. I really enjoyed their Spring Show. I was gutted this year when it was cancelled. Been loads of times but never done an autumn show. It’s too near to the Harrogate one u0 here. Yandles used to start my year off. I can feel a big sulk coming on #-o .

That explains the feeling I had, but somewhat better expressed.

Did you have a chance to talk to Bee (Belinda), she uses them without thinning and mentioned she only had to thin in very hot weather when I was helping someone looking for advice.

Don't airbrush myself these days so know nowt as they say, my kit went out with the arc several decades ago.

No I didn’t but I’m going to the AWGB seminar in Oct so expect Terry & team may well be there so I can have a longer chat then. Thanks for the steer.

Fortunate to live about 40 mins away so over the last few years have regularly been to both the spring and autumn shows.

I arrived at about 12.30 today and sadly due to other commitments did not have a lot of time. But my overall impression was that there were less trade stands and displays, particularly on turning. It may be a change in the overall economic environment making it unprofitable to promote these items through shows. and continually increasing on line sales of equipment and tools.

As usual very good selection of turning blanks and timber.

One very well promoted show pa annum may be better than two if support is failing.

Went yesterday and again today, loved it. Yesterday took my neighbour who loved it and today I even took my 18 month old who kept saying “wow” when we stood in front of wood turners (he’s got s future there).

Great stands very helpful reps who managed to persuade me out of more cash than I’d planned, but all great purchases including clamps, guides, and this beauty......

Enjoyed the rockler stand and the amazing wood chooses as ever, real shakes it’s down to once a year :-(

Looks a good result. You’ll be glad you went for the twin motor, makes a real difference!

I also got the optional pipework sound reducers, boy is that a great option

Now on the lookout for a 100mm cyclone to go with it :)

I went on the Friday afternoon and all day Saturday and have to say how impressed i was considering it was a "free" show. I go each year to the Harrogate and Newark shows and thought that this show was comparable. I also thought that the demonstrators at Yandles were much more approachable and very good at explaining techniques and tips.
