This is a bit drawn out

I have just finished my build of new garden office \ aquarium
I have now decided (lastminute.com) that it would make a better workshop albeit small 12' x 12'
so my 8' x 4' x 4' aquarium (stainless steel \ glass front) is destined for the angle grinder...it wont go out the door

the base is 6 lengths of 8" x 8" x 8' & 7 lengths of 8" x 8" x 4' sycamore \ maple sleepers (clean and fairly smooth)

I am already cutting up an £800 aquarium so I would at least like to salvage it's base

will it be suitable for a workbench ?
how the hell am I going to cut this up into usable timbers ?

how do I explain to SWMBO that I have not lost the plot?

thanks in advance

Steve

IMHO it'll be fine for a workbench. I've got a bench made from old softwood sleepers taken from a clients garden when we demolished her extension.
I know the yanks make a big fuss about workbench materials, but as long as it's flat and level and solid, pretty much anything will be OK.
As for cutting it up....... dunno.

I thought it was hardwood

I can only just lift it on its end , and took 2 people to carry it , with eyes popping out of head

how do u work that out ?
i need a :
band saw
bench grinder
kapex 120
tail vice
bench dogs

glad this is only a hobby

not sure it will wash :D

If I spent on tools what I had on various reef tanks over the years I could of brought those items many many times over. Thankfully the tanks are gone, but so's the spare cash as well... :(

You can repair old and broken tools so they last a few more years, last i heard the only thing you can do with a dead fish is to stuff it or add a few chips
