In my quest to acquire the worlds cheapest collection of Planes I got off to a splendid start when somebody kindly donated an old wooden Jack. Very nice it works too.
I'm afraid I had to hit Ebay to extend my collection:
8" smoother, 5 " mini smoother. The 8" plane really is in wonderful condition. All I really had to do was clean off with turps and sharpen the blade! I doubt it had much use at all. In fact I can still make out the stamp that states: 'Guaranteed English Beech'.
The front is marked 'Master', the back states the blade size. It's a very well made Plane. That blade is by Earnshaw, double iron. It Planes extremely well. I tried it on some swirly Ebony and not only did it produce fantastic shavings but it French Polished the wood as well! Sorry about that; all you Lie Nielsen/Veritas owners.
The 5" came in poor condition and is 'restored', single iron that needs more work. There's also another 5" woodie (single iron) that needs work.
99p for the three Planes.
