Hi Paul,
I am going on Friday.
At woodturning club the other day there was general chuntering by people far wiser than I about the lack of trade stands advertised. It will be interesting to see how it goes, as I have a bit of a shopping list!!

Malc :D

i was going to go but have decided not to bother and get a new lathe instead. i would be too tempted to spend more than i have.

I am not going this year other things to do.

Phil Irons has just said he isnt going to be there now he is moving premesis.

Oh yes and something about recieving a container this Friday full of lathes which might be good news for some. :D

I'll be there all 3 days. I'm a member of the Tudor Rose woodturners so I'll be demonstrating on their stand - armed with my new badge!!!!

See you there,

I'm still hoping to get a ball making demo from you :D

Hi Guys,
Just got back from the show.
As usual, some stunning pieces on display, as well as the usual demonstrators, timber sellers and tool stands. Bit disappointed as I only came away with 1 out of 3 things I went for.
Myself and Richard had a mutual badge admiring session  . This was after I had watched Richard "sculpt" an ash bowl - he really does make it look so easy. Oh well, back to coves and beads!
Sorry Chris, only just read your post, would have come and introduced myself if I had read it before I went.

Malc :D

Yes, I'm just back as well. Were were all the suppliers? plenty of wood for sale and 3 cheers for Ashley Iles and Meantime, but who else? A few bits from Craft Supplies. All the same Ashley Iles gave me the help I needed and I just happened to see a couple of pieces of timber I had to have!

Good job the Turning Clubs turned out else the shed would have looked very empty, good supply of interesting wood for those that need it, I don't, but some well figured Chestnut found its way into the car for the trip home. managed to stock up on a couple of consumables needed and a good nose round the club displays sharpened family preferences regarding styles, form and finishes. Forum badges were duly introduced to each other and the world in general put to rights.

All in all must say the couple of hours spent walking around the NT Sherborne estate and woodland on the trip back home was a little more satisfying.

Hi Shark,

Glad you enjoyed my little demo. The bowl wasn't perfect but was passable as a demo piece.

Nice to put another face to a name (nice badge by the way  )

The show seemed busy most of the day which is good to see. This show is always more about clubs rather than trade stands which is nice for socialising and "networking" but not so good if your after that new bit of kit  Plenty of wood to check out though!!!

Cheers,

Richard

Good to hear some positive comments :D
Looks like my plans have now been scuppered for this weekend,so i won't be going again

I was doing my first demo to day and a lovely lady called di spoke to me she like's my flower's. No photo's as sue was busy there are photo's of my 2nd demo

Well done Chris. I saw you making this early on. Looks like you managed to pull it off!!! This sort of thing is never easy with spinning points and the tool cutting wood only 1/3 of the time!!

See you again Sunday,

Richard

A very enjoyable show this morning - allbeit a fleeting visit. Nice to meet you Richard :)

I think I speak for all of the visitors in saying the clubs and the people taking the effort to give demonstrations are what made this show.

Whilst I agree with Chas that the trade stands were a bit thin, I think the demos and clubs put on a better show this year.

Well done to all involved.

Steve

This is my first lowly contribution to this forum despite my joining some time ago!

I spent the 3 days in the company of Richard Findley and others and also had the pleasure of meeting another forum member??? (Forgotten his name but remember some connection with rats!)

Anyway, it was an eye opener in many ways and an enjoyable experience despite the aching legs!

I shall certainly be attending again.

Regards, Peter.
