Wooden playhouse finish

I have a wooden playhouse to erect for my twin granddaughters and then paint or stain in pink and white.
What's the best to use, coloured stain or outdoor gloss paint?
Are the stains vibrant enough?

Advice appreciated.

Easy to use, water based, nice flat finish, and economical, does what it says on the tin!

I used Ronseal Garden Paint which goes on fairly nicely with either brush or HVLP spray. The colours are pretty, but it doesn't 'build' like an oil based gloss would. It hasn't been out in the weather long enough to comment on the durability. Then again, (I keep reminding myself) just how durable does the finish on a playhouse need to be?
