Cranked skew chisel, bowl turning(?). I have never used this tool as mostly spindle turning in furniture restoration. I don't remember how I aquired this tool!
In good condition.
£15 to include UK postage (£10 if bought with other wood turning tools that I am selling)

That isn't a turning tool at all. It's probably a cranked chisel for locks or something unusual to do with carving. The handle is too short for it to be turning tool and use on a lathe would be frought with danger!

The use I was referring to was as a support for the thread chasing tool used to make threads in a lid. It doesn't cut, nor are the forces involved great. This is a long video about threading wood but in the first few moments shows how it supports the chasing tool. Now having a second look at the tool in the opening post I can see that it isn't a support for chasing threads because it isn't straight. You can see how one might think it was as it does resemble one and having a vague recollection seen long ago that's what came to mind.

toolsntat,
I bow to your knowlege! Can you explain further? The tool is ground with a bevel on each side like a skew chisel. The angle of the "skew" is the opposite of what I would expect for scoring. Meanwhile I have withdrawn the item from sale.

The picture, as best I can make out, of your tool looks correct for it's intended purpose.
If you are right handed the bevel would be to the right hand side when the point is downwards and towards the handle.
Mind you, I've never used one but it works on the same principle as the old double bevel tungsten tipped laminate cutters. Rest against a straight edge and draw it towards you scouring a groove. On laminate that's enough, as you bend it to snap it but maybe zinc was cut right through?

There is one for sale here at G and M TOOLS which seems to contradict what I previously stated, unless it is a lefthanded version or maybe they were all ground on both sides giving a double bevel.
I have catalogues with them in and shall report back when I find em....
Mind you a double bevel producing a "V" groove when not cut all the way would allow for very neatly bent corners if bending to 90 degrees.
Cheers Andy
