Hi

I'm heading off to Amsterdam in the morning, does anybody know of any good tool shops or furniture related stuff to see there? I'd like to pick up some bargains if possible. :D

It would really have to be in the city center as I'm with a Stag night party.

Cheers
Joe

Brilliant offer, houtslager, much appreciated, I have sent a pm.

He he he, the window frames in the Red Light! :D I'll probably have to briefly walk through the red light but I won't be there for long, I'll just have a sit down in a coffee shop and watch the world go by! :?

I think it's in Amsterdam and other European cities that the buildings tilt outwards so that furniture can be lifted up a few stories outside the building rather than trying to bring it up the stairs inside. (Useless factoid)

Cheers so
Joe

The window frames are indeed a great view.

I have spent many an afternoon checking them out, never had the courage to inspect them from the inside though.

They don't lean because of the need to bring in furniture, it's the piles starting to move, they keep the lean by preservation order these days.
They hoist the furniture as the stairs are too steep and small to it up that way. It's actually a very efficient way of filling a house with furniture

I used to own a house in Amsterdam that leant half a meter!!!

I hear Mel has the job of inspecting the window frames and can be seen on friday nights inspecting the insides in just a hard hat and tool belt

last time i was there i spotted a rather nice vice
would you see if it still there for me ???

germanys reiperbahn has the best windows in europe

not that i would know

Hi

Thanks for all the replys.

Mel, I'm going in ten minutes, not sure if you are serious or whether it's a play on the word 'vice'? :D

AndyBoyd, thanks for the offer but no time to organise it. Andy and Houtslager, brilliant offers, I'd love to meeet but it may not be possible as I'm with a group, will have to see how it works out... if you're ever in Dublin give me a call!

Cheers

Hi Lads...

I'm wrecked!!! :?

I'm only recovering now and I've been home for five days! I find a simple visit to a coffee shop can leave a person incapable of doing much for hours!!! Also I had to stay off the streets as much as possible with all the bikes and trams everywhere!

Sorry Houtslager, in the end on Saturday I went to an Irish pub called 'The Aran' I think... beside the casino. I'm sorry that we couldn't meet, as i say, i was with a group and it wasn't really possible. The group was a bit of a mismatch and people wanted to do different things! In the end I stayed in a pub in the Red Light while my friends 'browsed' around... I had a great night, met some lovely Norwegian girls (tourists), great fun was had by all!

I would love to go again, it's a great city! Highly recommended!

Cheers so,
Joe
