One thing to note is some the screwfix screws vary in cost massively between lengths so if length can be changed slightly you can save a bunch. I'm using 90s rather than 100s on the shed as they are half the price! It's worth looking between lengths and gold vs silver at costs.

Reisser cutter's again for me, in-expensive & super fast delivery from tool station

Another vote for Reisser. Just gone through a massive tub of 25mm to ply the kitchen floor before tiling - easy to start and none snapped or cammed out with the impact driver.

Also been using Spax as that's the best the local wickes had when I needed some 100mm screws in a hurry - deffinatly a step up on any of Screwfix offerings but not quite as good as the Reisser.

Reisser seem to be popular! But similar cost to the Turbo II screws I got. I'm only using softwood so guessing in hardwood the screwfix ones are a bit weak? Is that why reisser is preferred?

Has nobody tried those cheap turboqwik ones?

Kyuzumaki - I'll be interested to see how you get on if you go for the Reisser or turboqwik.

I've always used the Turbo II screws as they are good quality and importantly the head seems to take the Philips screwdriver bit really well.

I remember buying a tonne of the cheaper screws from Screwfix (might have been the turboqwik) for budget reasons to re-fill my screw box, and quickly regretted it when I started using them. The Phillips bit kept diddering and jumping out of the screw head (screwed in with a impact driver) when a bit of force was applied. Like the cross or star wasn't deep enough in the head of the screw.

I've been trying to use them up for ages now, but still find the odd one in my box. A complete pain in the backside.

I just wouldn't use cheaper screws.

I just use simple Screwfix Goldscrews and find them absolutely fine for the price. I'm sure the Turbogold/Turbo Ultra are better somehow, but I doubt the extra expense is worth it. Saying that, if someone else is paying I'd buy and use Spax.

I often use the screwfix ones as it's what we have at work and find them to be good. Keep an eye out as the boxes in the metal tins often come on offer.

However, I've found myself using Hospa screws from Hafele after another forum member pointed my in Hafele's direction.
They seem to be a reasonable quality if not a little plain, and at, for example, Ø 3.5 x 35 mm - £6.60 + VAT for 1000 they are a good price.
There is a delivery charge of something like £8, but I just order when I want a few things and stock up.

They also sell spax screws. I've never bought them so can not say how they compare price wise to other places but Hafele sell them at, again as an example, Spax screws, Ø 3.5 mm, 35 mm length - £5.26 + VAT for 200.

Price breaks are generally at 200, 500 and 1000 pieces.

Spax screws are nice but I'm running on old stock now as I prefer square screws, mainly stainless.
