Wood in the shed?

Hi all

I have quite a bit of hardwood and good quality ply in the garage but from Monday morning I will need a lot more space in there and possibly the wood needs a new storage location

Does anyone store their wood in a shed and are there any issues? I am concerned that the moisture content will be all over the place

The garage is connected directly to the house and has a couple of radiators plumbed in to the central heating whereas the shed sits in the garden and has thin wooden walls

Hi, I guess the key thing is what sort of state your shed is in.

The key thing is if there are any leaks in it or with all this awful weather you get any water ingress through the shed walls or roof joins. Also if it is well vented and has a through flow of air then that shouldn't cause too many problems.

If it isn't well vented you may find condensation a problem which is a pain. I am sure you know already that it should be well spaced too when stored.

Can you not suspend something from the roof of your garage to take all this so it takes up less floor space?

Go on them.... I'll bite! Whats coming to take up the space?

I store wood in the shed, I suggest you will be fine with plywoods. As mentioned - is it actually dry?

I'd be tempted to part machine pieces, and then bring them inside for a while to be sure - better to be on the safe side.

Tony, how sealed is the shed - A dehumidifier might help in keeping the humidity at a reasonable constant level.

And yes prey tell what do you need the space for?

Might risk it then with a bit of sealing first and intentional ventialtion added
