Hi there,
I know it's hard to identify wood from photos - but can anyone help me with this one....
Here's the small log (the bark really does have that reddish tint to it):
Two of it on the lathe
and the shavings
I think it grew in Hampshire (ie I brought it with me when I moved to Wales along with some other bits of wood from my garage kept after helping prune some trees in a friend's garden) and I know it is not Hazel, Birch, Chestnut, Ash, Oak, Rowan or London Plane. It is a quite dense wood (a bit like Hazel - but wrong colour & grain structure.) Could it be a type of Poplar or Aspen? Any other thoughts.
