Wood identification

I have been given a few seasoned logs, saved by the late husband of a friend. He'd sealed the ends with hammerite, one piece is Laburnam (not shown) but the others look like Hawthorn or possible Yew? Unfortunately they're full of radial splits which go the full length so it's going to be interesting to see how they turn.

Thanks, I'm glad I wore my mask. Beautiful grain and colour but cracks do detract in my view.

I think you're right, I did use some cyanoacrylate just to stabilise it while turning as it did sound very fragile. Perhaps some gold coloured may work?

Wow that grain is stunning, I have another log which I think I'll keep for the moment, there may be a better application than bowls...
