Wood identification please....

Can anyone help with the identification of these two pieces of wood..?

not too sure about the first, maybe ash or alder, but the second looks like London plane..

possibly oak for the first and would go along with the london plane for the second

London Plane eh..? I can feel another box coming on....


As for the second bit, it's definitely not Oak as i've got a bit of that not 3ft away... the Oak has what i would describe as a greenish hue to the bark, and this has a reddish hue to it.

The rough bark one looks similar to some freshly cut Pear i got last year.
It was very very heavy for the size of logs i had. :?:
