Hello everyone,

I got given a bit of scrap wood, apparently it's from a door or window frame. It's quite heavy, and looks a lot like oak, it's light brown and has prominent rays. But it's diffuse porous whereas oak is ring porous, and it's also finer grained.

End grain, 20mm across:

The grain is straight, ray flecks on radial surface.

This, I think, is oak. 35mm across:

The piece is actually 2 different woods glued together, 65mm across:

Can anyone ID this wood?
