I have just finished building a 7*3.5 brick workshop alongside my garage, I have designed and built it so when I move on the new owners can turn int into what ever they want - extra bedroom office etc. Its fully insulated cavity wall and concrete floor.

I want to finish the floor in wood, not laminate but maybe engineered Oak - it will have to resist some wear an tear but I only do light woodwork so it not going to be trashed. I expect to sand it down every 5 years or so if needed.

Question

What should I use to level the floor, self leveling or asphalt?

Can you suggest a engineered wood floor spec and good supplier, pref north west ?

Self levelling will do the trick. You can then install the floor floating, with DPM backed insulation to protect the boards from moisture. Or more expensive option, glue down, with a liquid DPM first, using something like Sikabond.

Try these guys

The 21mm stuff is a monster, full structural grade with 6mm oak top layer, nice long and wide boards . £30/m2 + VAT is around the going rate for this flooring. There's other places doing similar stuff for similar pricing,
