Was having a bit of a tidy up and thought I'd take some pics. I haven't done a proper workshop tour since I moved here in October.
It's a garage attatched to the house, entered via the kitchen. The house is on a corner so I've ended up with some funny angles.
The whole thing is a work in progress. The best bit being the workbench I built with MarkW early this year. I really enjoy standing here 'fiddling'. I find I can stand for much longer before my back starts piping up.
I have the compressor stored under the vice. Tho I'm thinking of getting rid of it as I've literally used it twice.
I have my machinery lined up against the walls. The drill press and bandsaw are on wheels and are pulled out when needed, it works well for me. My intention was to line this wall with ply but only got as far as putting up the studs. The shelving is very useful in getting all the clutter up off the floor.
On the other wall I have my Jet P/T and some more storage. This side of the 'shop needs some sorting out. I have some long sheet stock leaning against the wall but it's a massive space waster. I'm tempted to just skip it. At the far end I have a large metal filing cabinet where power tools and finishes are stored. It's really handy, with tough full extending drawers. I also keep my sharpening stuff in the top compartment. My clamps are rather precariously hung next to it.
This is a bit of a lash up that hasn't really worked out for me. The idea was to get the Triton off it's legs and onto a trolley in order to make use of the area underneath it and incorporate the router table.
Nice idea in principle but needs a bit of tweaking to get it all running right. TBH I have lost interest in the idea and set my sights on a new TS.
I tend to store timber anywhere it will fit. It's everywhere at the moment.
That's about it. I would love to have one of those clinically clean workshops with no clutter. I seriously doubt I'll ever get there tho, no in this shop anyway.
