So for christmas the wife asked for a potting table for the porch. It's located there as I'm taking over the shed (when it gets built). It's going to have a high back so that there can be a shelf. I'm going to put a couple of drawers in the bottom. As it's supposed to be cheap functional 'working' furniture and it's going to be painted, I decided to make it out of pine.

I've done a few drawings but the general dimensions are as follows:

1.9m high (this is for the shelves at the back)
worktop 90cm high
90cms by 40cms

I've made a good start over the weekend (despite not really doing much on it yesterday) so it's all cut to size, all the tenons are cut and I've made a good start on the mortices. You'll have to click through to the pics as the img tags don't seem to like Dropbox. Here's some piccys:

All the wood ready to go:

Why I don't use power tools, hand tools do enough damage as it is:

Once the mortices are finished, i'll post shots of them.

So far the joints all seem to mostly match up, so fingers crossed it should all go together ok.

More mortices cut this evening.

Marked out the last 4 mortices. Have to say, using a proper mortice chisel makes the whole job go much easier. Which I'd had one for the workbench build. Bit more to go, but it's getting there now.

That's Looking good, Hope the nurse was sympathetic. Any idea what colour the finish is?

That's a good idea. I ought to actually ask her what colour she wants it.

No nurse I'm afraid, but she was vaguely sympathetic. It looked vaguely bad for the first 10 seconds, but once I'd cleaned it out it was fine.

All joints cut. Dry fitted and I've now started the glue up.

All clamped up.

Gluing the sides.

Joints actually fit quite well. Couple of ugly ones, but compared to previous attempts it's a big improvement.

Finally pretty much finished. Finished the painting. Just need to get a sheet of tin from a mate and then that'll go on top.

Carl - Good thing its the tarp that I use for painting on then isn't it ;)

I've just got to put the hooks and handles on it. Then the metal top (as I'd mentioned and it's done).
