windows 8 help please

A neighbour purchased a w8 laptop with no dvd drive.

The lady has some cds with her pictures saved .

I said I would load them to my W7 computer and then put them on a usb stick.

So going to her laptop later today.

I assume I put in the loaded usb and then what do I do please step by step, I noted that when she switched on the screen was black with a hot spot left and right corner of monitor and that is all I know.

Windows will show you what to do. When you put the disk into the drive. Once windows has read the disk, you will get a pop up asking what you want to do now.

I would choose the option arrowed, then drag and drop the images to a folder you have ready. Then once all the pics are transferred, you can then drag and drop the folder to the usb stick.
