Newbie here, although i have been reading the forum for months.
Need some advice, i want to buy a table saw for home use, must be single phase and will fit in a single garage. Primarily. i want accuracy. It should have a sliding carriage and accurate guide fence mitre guage. Budget i suppose would be up to £650 but would splash out more if necessary.

I have looked at the following online:

Scheppach TS2010 Kit 3
Kity 619 with attachments
SIP 01132

I am happy to buy second hand or any make not listed above, this is just my list.
Anyone help or advise? Have you had any of the above and can recommend or deter from? Look forward to hearing from you.

Ben

Firstly,hello and welcome :D

Secondly - have you read the "forum users table saws" thread ?(link is in the forum users tool surveys sticky) - gives you a good idea of what is popular (I have a small benchtop table saw,and a large contractors saw,so can't really advise on anything for fine cabinetmaking  )

Hi Ben

Welcome to the forum.

I'm sure that somebody will be along soon to help. In the meantime, why not make yourself a coffee and do some searches on this site.

Cheers
Neil

Hi Ben and welcome - I use the Kity 419 with all the extra bits and pieces. It's a very accurate and well built saw, will run of a 13A socket without a problem, though the extraction is rubbish - have a look at a post by 'Bean' - 'Making Kity breath more easily' for a really excellent mod to improve it. Saw blade supplied is OKish but a decent 36T blade will be another huge improvement - Rob

Hi Ben

I got the EB PK200 package that just comes with the sliding carriage, width extension, floor stand and dust kit. Most places are selling this for £650.

I’ve had it a few years and, once it’s set up, it works well and is as accurate as my current amateur woodworking abilities require. The rip fence looks like it will be a constant nightmare, but has never given me any real trouble. On the minus side, it doesn’t like to be moved about too much.

I have much more space now than when I bought the saw, so an upgrade to a TS2500ci or similar is imminent. Whilst looking for a bigger saw I have seen the small Scheppach and it looks like a nice saw for this bracket and would probably get my money over the EB if I had my time all over again.

Quite a few people took advantage of the recent Rutlands deal on the Fox 10”. For full price it looks like a good deal, so with £200 off it must have been a steal. There are several threads about this saw. Not sure how much space you have, but the wise men of this site always urge us newbies to buy the best we can afford and I think this is sound advice.

Good luck, Jon

Ben,

I'll just second what Jon said about the Electra saw, I've had mine for a few years and found it to be very good (reliable and accurate).

Cheers,

Dod

Must say i am overwhelmed with helpful advice and comments, thank you all so much. It is a great forum.

I do now have a very generous offer of a Scheppach from a fellow member and hope to complete the deal soon.

Ben :D
