Hi all

I am planning to spray paint my latest project with a black satin finish and I am unsure which products to use.

What sort of primer can I use in a spay gun that is suitable for plywood?
Ideally I would like to follow it up with a cellulose paint so compatability is important.

Any ideas to help me in this new area?

Thanks
Phil

Hello Phil. If the top coat is to be cellulose then your primer must be cellulose. You can use a spirit based primer but personally I would use a cellulose based one as it will certainly be compatible with the top coat. Another advantage of using a cellulose primer is it will dry quickly too. HTH.

Phil,

I agree with Dan, Morrells is the way to go. If you are using a black finish get them to tint the primer to match or use the dark grey.

I used morrells for years, then I got Mylands to quote a few months ago, not only were they significantly cheaper the paint is better in my opinion, not saying there's anything wrong with Morrells but I now use mylands all the time.

I'm surprised you found someone significantly cheaper than Morrells. What level of discount were you on, Doc?

Dan

I'm stuck in the home office due to the snow, I'm Guessing 40-45% discount.
We probably buy £1000- £1250 spraying materials per month after discount

Horses for courses really, I'm sure the're some items you pay less than me for and vice versa.
Are you after a pi**ing competition :D
I'll start
Medite 18mm premium grade £9.10 + vat

You jammy pair of bu**ers! I don't get anywhere near that sort of discount. Mind you I don't spend that kind of money either.....yet.
