I'm off to the US on Tuesday and plan to take advantage of the time to pick up an Incra router fence for my Norm type table. But which one? The 16" Ultra can be had from Amazon for $221, which falls nicely within the £150 limit for customs. The LS Supersystem with wonderfence is $385, both plus postage and local tax.

The main difference seems to be that the LS has built in dust extraction and a split fence with offset so that it can be used as a mini jointer, plus a high fence for vertical panelling. I'm sure that I can build in some dust extraction of my own, and I already have a SIP p/t so the jointer facility is not important to me. Likewise, it must be pretty easy to add a high fence of my own should the need arise.

If money was no object it would be a no brainer, but should I stretch the budget ( and exceed the £150 customs limit ), or would the 16" Ultra do everything I want. Everything else being equal, I'd rather keep the £100. Any users of the Ultra out there with an opinion?

Hi Roger
Well you know what I'm going to say, but the Incra Ultra Lite is the best value I reckon at $122!

I've never had any regrets with this one - you can knock up a fence of your choice in a couple of hours. And leaves room for some other stuff withing your budget!

The only thing I don't like about those incra fences is the massive space it needs behind it. More and more I am considering going for a self built incremental RT Fence.

Another advantage of the the Ultra Lite - it's shorter. I've not had the need for it to be longer anyway - I tend to take the router to bigger pieces.

I have the Ultra (xmas prezzie from wife 3 years ago) and added the Wonderfence within the last year.

Together they are perfect. On its own the Ulta (and the other one-piece Incra fences) are limited.

Wondefence removes dust very effectivey, allows one to adjust the gap around the cutter, and supports tall work.

Wonderfece is also machined flat on the face, the Ultra is just the extruded aluminium and not as flat.

I wouldn't go back to the Ultra alone,
