Which Fine Filter Cartridge?

I have a Jet DC1100 dust extractor which I use for extraction from my PT and spindle moulder, it just has the cloth bag at the top for a filter.

I am ordering some bigger hose for the extractor and thought I might also treat it to a cartridge type filter. I looked on Axminster and as luck would have it they have the cartridge filter for it on sale at £270

Out of curiosity I looked on Scott & Sarg and saw these (haven't checked but guessing it would fit) for £126

I have just used the cloth bag for years but am guilty of not cleaning it as often as I should and am always amazed how the suction improves when I do clean it.

Will the cartridge filter be a big improvement and can the Jet one be worth twice as much?

Some of the forum members have used industrial cartridge filters to replace the bags at a lower cost. You'll want to take it outside and use a leaf blower or compressed air to clean them though. They don't have paddles which will in time rub holes in the filter media. You'll also have to make up your own adaptors to fit them. Let them know you want to filter from the inside out, opposite to the way industry does it. Here is where they got them from. I’ve heard good reports of the company Pete recommends not that I’ve used them though they are only round the corner.
I tend to use Dust Spare I don’t know if one of their filters would fit your machine Cartridge Filters
As for a big improvement, I’ve used fine filters for donkeys years & whilst it reduces the suction slightly it is far better for my lungs which is more important to me.

You can contact them and they will probably tell you the specs of the OEM filters they make replacements for.

I think there are more middle men involved with the Jet filter which will have an influence on price comparison

It would be nice if more of these listed how well it actually filters and to what level.

I replaced the cloth bag with a Scott & Sargeant cartridge and the RP AC400 now collects noticeably less dust.
