I have to shorten quite a few 8 mm thread end bolts..wondered which disc is recommended for my disc grinder (125mm)
..possibly a thin one would be preferable!!
Any makes to look out for?
Thanks

Gerry

Look for the fine kerf ones typically 0.8 or 1mm. they are very cool cutting as they remove so little metal.
toolstation, screwfix ebay etc are all likely sources. Norton is a market leading brand.

Just having looked in the catalogues, Screwfix seem only to sell in packs of 5, toolsatan do singles

Hi

As per MM's recommendation above, but if you have sufficient access a hacksaw fitted with a good blade is arguably as quick and a lot less messy.

Regards Mick

+1 for the hacksaw it will save no end of time with a file.

Clamp the waste in a vice and saw, file the cut end like you are sharpening it in to a point and off you go.

When using a hack saw i put a nut on the bolt before cutting it. Then after i wind the nut off and it opens the thread back up. Or the really easy way is to buy the correct length bolt... :-"
