My brad nailer has just gone to the brad nailer heaven in the sky and I need a new one. What do you recommend.

Workshop use only
Trim and moulding fitting mainly
Occasional used to support panels in dado style routed slots

NOT a Tacwise please
Budget upto £100 so expect say £80 ish

Does not have to be a major brand but must have some expectation of reliability. Last one was only 2 yrs old when it died.

If air, then pretty much anything will do the job and they're cheap enough to throw away when they break or wear out. For electric, I wouldn't recommend anything other than the Maestri or SpotNails own brand equivalent - either of which would blow your budget by a factor of 2-3, sorry to say. The Maestri, in particular, is bulletproof though, and excellent.

I share your dislike of TacWise, though I did transform a basic nailer/stapler into a workable tool by ditching the TacWise consumables and using ones bought for the Maestri. Still a nasty piece of kit though...

I have pneumatic nailers, a Portacable Bammer Gas powered and a Ryobi One+ P320 Electric Brad Nailer. The Ryobi is absolutely brilliant and has a great range of settings to get the nail exactly how deep you need it, since getting it, the only nailer I tend to use now other than the Ryobi is a cheap little pneumatic pin nailer for attaching trims/mouldings.

Thanks all for the suggestions. I have been trolling around today looking at brad nailers and talking to suppliers about support.

There are a lot of ignorant suppliers out there.

Eventually bought this from Bostitch for its 15mm to 50mm capacity http://www.screwfix.com/p/bostitch-bt1855-e-55mm-brad-nailer/89453# and then based on an upcoming project off site I bought a slightly smaller Ryobi based on the recommendation above. Tested both out this pm and they are both excellent ( for now) with the Bostitch being the better made by far but the Ryobi is very much lighter in weight and slightly more easy to maneuver.

I'll keep you informed of progress in a few months.

Different technology, but having bought a secondhand DeWalt battery nailer off another forumite, I've been impressed. Takes 16g brads up to 63mm long and punches them in with gusto.
Only problem is the cost of the brads - does anyone have a good source? Currently using Tacwise brads from Toolstation, so a bit worried by the comment above about their consumables. (Toolstation website implies the brads are DeWalt, without actually stating as much :( )
