where can I learn

My father was a cabinetmaker and coach body builder, he taught me how to use tools but not how to care for or adjust them. Any suggestions as to where I might go to improve these skills?

I can confirm this forum is a pretty good resource for all manner of tool care and fettling, once you get the hang of the search function.

In addition to anything else you do, treat yourself to a copy of "Classic Hand Tools" by Garrett Hack ISBN 1-56158-273-5 (hardback). It's beautifully illustrated and full of practical advice on tools. It also covers quite a bit of the culture and history of tools. Inspirational, in fact.
