Hi all
l think this is iroca l think that is how you spell it it is very heavy and hard to cut l have had this piece a few years now and was wondering what to do with it any idea`s

it is 4-1/2 wide and 2-1/2 thick and about 4` long l did wipe it down with a damp cloth to get the dust off but it is that color
 
Yep, still think it might be padauk, but Im sure someone with more experience will be along to correct me :)
As to its' use - if you cut off the ends with splits in, how about planking it up and making a box or two? If you have a lathe, it looks (whatever it is) like it would take a good polish.
Probably too small to make any large items with, but maybe enough for a cabinet, say Krenov style?
If you are into musical instruments, there would be plenty for a ukulele/mandolin, and maybe a small bodied guitar?

Just a couple of ideas.

l did make a small box with no lid it was one of the 1st things l made when l got my lathe
