What wood?

Did this for mother in laws 80th birthday. Any ideas on what wood it is? It was very heavy, the paler wood was softer than the dark, but turned very nicely.

Laburnum's interesting - looks so much like a tropical, but grows in UK - sometimes find big pieces via tree surgeon

as noted above, it has been said that all parts are poisonous, but I think it's the berries/seeds (pea-type) that are really deadly - however don't breathe the dust
it's quite safe to handle a finished solid piece like your vase or funiture

test for laburnum vs lignum ---- lignum will sink in a bucket, laburnum float, altho fairly dense
