what speed the router ?

Hi guys,

I am just experimenting with my Dakota Dovetail jig. What Is the best speed setting for cutting Dovetails in softwood and hardwoods ?

Isn't speed more related to bit size/ type than the cut? I thought reducing the speed was needed for larger diameter bits as a safety issue?

But dovetail bits are small so they can run at 30,000 large bits over 50mm say need reducing to 15-18,000

Cheers folks I have it on the fastest setting and seems to give clean cuts in hardwood , but rips softwood a bit to be honest..

Now I have sussed the dakota dovetail jig out I am loving it , great dovetails in no time at all =D> =D>

If breakout is the problem, put a sacrificial piece behind as support.
