Hiya

I just acquired this Inca 8" planer. It also came with a surface thicknesser (not pictured).

Can anyone confirm the model number, as I can't see it marked on there anywhere, and I need to get a new set of knives.

Thanks!

I had one of those for a while and I don't think I ever found out conclusively what the model number was. I measured the old blades and just bought a set of the same dimensions from eBay.
They're lovely, smooth running machines aren't they? A lot to be said for Swiss engineering. I've got an Elektra one now, purely because I needed something a bit bigger and I didn't want the faff involved with attaching the thicknesser every time I needed to use it but it's not a patch on the Inca one in terms of construction.

Thanks all for the help.

H S - glad to see your positive review! I haven't been able to use it yet as the existing blades are far too dull, but it certainly seems very well constructed - the attention to detail in keeping the fence square to the tables is great! How well did you find the thicknesser attachment worked (apart from the faff in removing it)?

I bought it on the basis of the name - my Dad's Inca b/s (bought new in the '80s) is still going strong.

The thicknesser worked great, with the new blades fitted the finish was first class. I think that the rigidity and smoothness of operation meant that the blades were able to do their bit without the distraction of vibration and flex. When I first bought it I was a bit dubious I must admit but you'll be pleasantly surprised I think, especially if you get a chance to compare it with something more modern and of comparable cost.
I think that marcros is pretty much spot on with the link he's given you, those numbers do ring a bell but if I remember there were several possible options depending on whether it was floor mounted or table top. It's an old machine and I couldn't find much info on the internet but you may have more luck than I did.

It should be this one, http://imgur.com/a/sbYU5, as far as I know there's only one version of that machine. The picture looks "floor mounted" but I assume it's only that the stand is cutsom made and painted in the same colour as the machine, they were all table top versions (that came with optional wooden table to place the machine on).

I think there was a different serial number P/T. Ola's one above is 343.132 but there was also a 343.190 (with from what i can gather came with 5 variants on power/supply) It's in Ola's link above (16th page). It has a bigger body but I don't know any more than that. Possibly it's the same machine as the one above with slight variations? Might be a lead.
http://incamachines.com/english/inca-sp ... ssers.html This might help?

Like to see some more pics if you wouldn't mind at some point?

it isnt a .190 they were true planer thicknessers.

what doesnt help is that the americans dont use the serial model number, and rename them as a model 550, 560, 570 etc.

i think that its a model 410/420 or a 343.132

the stand was probably one of the many various ones offered. I have found a manual if you PM me your address- you can take a few measurements and check.

Agree with marcros, it certainly isn't one of the slightly bigger Inca automatic (called so since the thicknesser has automatic feed) of which there are many version. Short tables with motor underneath (older), longer tables with motor on the back and dito with 2 and 3 blade tersa cutter. I have the 2 blade tersa version.

The one in this thread has no thicknesser feed and thicknessing is done on top of the tables. This machine I'm quite sure only came in one version.

i have the tersa 2 blade one too. does yours have the round feed drive belt on it?

damn! i was hoping that you could measure the round belt for me!

Can't you run with flat belt? I think the machine is identicak, they only switched to flat belts.

Otherwise someone in the yahoogroup should be able to give you the answer.

it needs a few extras to run on the flat belt. i have asked on yahoo, but thought i would ask you just in case. I may just get the genuine part
