That does seem likely, using the four-fold rule next to it as a guide to size. But you'll have some useful tools there - coping saw, fretsaw, Record 043, drawknife, jackplane, tryplane, plough - what are you going to make with them?

Maybe an oilstone box to fit the orphan lid? ;-)

i know, i allways buy more and more, im a bit of an addict, there is a few good bit in there, i like the draw knife, i just like getting a load and seeing the makers ect, i brought a joblot of chisels a whle back and 25 of the where addis, and got a load of Henry Taylor lathe chisels and all sorts for half a days wage :)
im all ways on the look out

lol, ye i know, i thought that about the lid i have many spare stones with out boxes so will make another i guess,
another 4 :(
was hoping it was a bit better but owel hopefully i get them and its a 3.

soooo..... whats it worth??

I was wondering when you would ask that.

You seem to buy a lot of planes without knowing what they are, or what they're worth. You buy them and then ask all of the questions that should have been answered before you bought anything. Are you buying and selling? Are you posting from a phone...It's hard to decipher sometimes.

i post from both, i know what i think they are worth i just like to know what other think, its just a piece of mind thing as i like to know others opinions thats all. i do buy and sell. i buy job lots and keep what i like and make profit off the rest its a good way to keep up to date and get some very good bit. dont any of you do that? but then again im not rich enought to buy brand new top of range stuff and i love to have a tool for a bit use it pass it on :) its all part of the fun.

im saving up for a no1. thats my years goal. do any of you own one not to use but to have..

the woody in the top right hand corner appears to be a Marples 'Shamrock' Foreplane, if it is it will be about 18" long and a joy to use.

Looking at the second picture again, I noticed that the plane I called a plough is actually a moving fillister, with its wedge in back to front, in true ebay fashion!

good eye. Ha so you guessed where I got it from lol. Should do up nicley. I've never used a filster. What its uses? There are to irons a main one and a smaller on on the side?

You said it was an ebay purchase in your opening post.

And when I said "moving fillister" I should have said "sash fillister" which tells you what its use was - cutting a rebate on the far side of the work, making sash bars for windows.

You might wonder why a tool used for cuts along the grain needs a nicker at all - something usually associated with cross-grain cuts. The answer has to do with the way that the iron is skewed. With the trailing edge cutting the corner of the rebate there is a risk of long pieces splitting off; the nicker severs them neatly.

I forgot I said that I got it from eBay. Not a tool I'll use much if ever but still a nice one. I'll just sell it on once I've cleaned up. Have so much I need to sort. I tackle to many jobs at once. Thank Andy in going to you tube it later and have a look at them in use. I only hope the arms arnt warped and that it all works. I'll post pics when I've sorted it.
