What are these?

I bought these at a car boot sale nearly 20 years ago, just because I liked the look of them. But I’ve never used them nor have I been able to work out what they are for… any ideas folks?

Lab clamps? They look like wooden versions of the metal ones we used when I was at school

Yes, they look like laboratory clamps to me too. There were a few very similar in the chemistry lab when I started school. They all disappeared when they built the new science block in 1968

Beat me to it. They certainly look like lab clamps.

They are burette clamps. Designed to hold the glass tube vertical, and parallel to the wooden upstand ( misding from the pictures). You could make your own, by glueing a 25mm dowel into a wooden base.

They are…. laughing at you, you’ve been looking after them for 20-years for no purpose whatsoever!

yes, they’re off retort stands from long ago, but they can be quite useful, if you’re doing a load of sanding, routing etc in one spot you can use them to route your power cable/hose from above the bench so it doesn’t keep catching on things

Yes you’re right, I often buy stuff thinking I’ll have a use for it one day… I never learn!
