What are the 'in' blades now ?

I get the impression that Dure Edge bandsaw blades were the blade of choice on this forum but that they have now stopped trading, so what is now the blade of choice for you chaps. regards andy.

I have bought from Dragon, found them OK but I dont think the weld was as good as duredge.

I've tried the Dragon blades. The welds are not as well done as the Dure-Edge ones IMHO (althogh much better than APTC who make very second-rate blades) and they (Dragon) left me singularly unimpressed with their "technical advice" as they were unable to quote a beam strength which for a larger band saw user is very lax (we tend to set-up blades using a tension gauge). Dure-Edge aren't on the web, but not everything on the web for instant purchase is the best. The same is true of circular saw blades: Bennetts in Sheffield will knock Omas, Freud or Trend into a cocked hat but you need to talk to them as they don't sell via the web.....

I have never purchased from Dure Edge (they were not trading at the time of my first purchase) but have bought from Trucut in Ross on Wye

Like other commenters on Dragon, the Dragon Blade welds on my current batch of blades are not as well executed as those on the Trucut blades which ran with no detectable join clicks and no failures.
The Dragon blades used so far have cut true and the only one (thick 20mm) showing wear has had the equivalent of 3 days continuous use in green stock (don't know how this compares with others suppliers but is on a pare with the trucut version I had)

I tried the Axminster AXCLIBER blades.
Been cutting all my logs up with it,quite a lot, and haven't changed it yet,still going strong.Well pleased with it.

I have just bought from axminster and I agree with Paul. The new Axcaliber blades seem way better than their old ones.

'Fraid I'd have to put a question mark on Dragon Saws too - welds not too clever.

I get mine from my sharpening people about £20 each or £8 each if bought in 6's - Startrite 352 3/4"
