well its my first hand tool. I had a router for my birthday and now need to rehang a door after new carpets, shes not pretty but it came the next day and is sharp, i took it apart and put it back together and it still works and it makes nice curly shavings,

now i just need to get things flat, by the way, should the iron be set to an angle using the lever at the back??

cheers for looking

technically serge if you are planing straight, then the blade should be straight across the mouth, you can adjust that by using that lever.

as dc recommends put a piece of white paper behind the back, and sight across the front onto the white paper, and look for an even blade shape.

unless of course the blade is curved :? but even then the plan is to make it even on both sides.

paul
