The cherry pair look more dissimilar every time I look at them but the cactus one isn't too bad. Not perfect but better. I really need to practice copying as it is something I am not very good at. Now awaiting to see what the customer thinks :-k Hopefuly they will like one of the pairs

Very nice again Pete.
It's like playing spot the difference
The PP ones are more identical to each other from the photo.
The Cherry ones are a lot different.
The bottom of the bowl is a different shape all together,so is the stem, and the bowls themselves look a diiferent size/shape,the one on the right flaring out more and narrower.
Perhaps the piccy isn't helping.
How critical have they gotta be.
This is why i like doing one offs

Hi Pete,
By you have been busy and what a lovely job you've made of them both.
I can see what you mean about the similarity of each pair but at the end of the day they are hand made not CNC made and must therefore be open to some artistic licence!
I must agree I do not like trying to make pairs of items it ain't easy but I guess its all down to practice. If the recipients of the goblets are not satisfied I would be highly suprised.
Nice work Pete. I must say the PP looks almost like fabric and really unusual.
Regards,
Ian

I sent the picture to the customer and caused a problem. He couldn't decide so decided he'd have both pairs and use the spare ones as a wedding present for his sister. :eek:ccasion5: :eek:ccasion5:

Hi Pete,

There are some diferences in your pairs but I'm sure you don't need me to point them out for you! I'd say that you got a good result though: both pairs sold!! =D> =D> =D> =D>

When making a pair of anything I make an MDF "template" with half of the shape drawn on, full size, with all of the major reference points marked with a little nick in the board. I turn the blank to the largest diameter and then use the template to mark out. This puts all of the details in the same place, all you have to do then is try and turn all beads and coves the same shape!!

Cheers,

Richard
