I wonder if you guys would be kind enough to have a look at my website? A few people have had a look at it and some have said they can't get on using the URL? They did say that they could view it by typing Cabinet maker Grimsby for some reason. I am baffled and would appreciate your input. Many thanks. :?

Alan, it works fine for me, i enter Tenko Joinery into google then click i'm feeling lucky and I go directly to your website, and very good too :D

Mailee,

On balance a good site. Simple, attractive and written in clear open and friendly text I was attracted to your approach immediately.

A couple of issues though.
1) I hate the name. It conjours up a damp, depressing and rotten internment camp. I can understand the oriental influence but am unsure of how it relates to UK society. You seem to have no oriental inspired furniture in your gallery so whats the point.

2) Gallery was good but somehow it was very slow top load images. Images distorted from very tall and narrow to short and fat. I am unsure of what was happening. Image descriptions did not follow the gallery. Perhaps too many images of the same stuff perhaps just need one of each.

Pretty good however in approach. I like the sense of a lack of pretentiousness and solid value for money approach.

Good luck.
Regards
Alan

Alan,

I found that on the Order page the links to the other pages on the site no longer work.
Nice clean look, the gallery does seem to stutter when loading the pictures. You could try increasing the compression on the jpg files a bit, it will reduce the quality but should improve the load times.

Worked OK for me Mailee, although there was a typo on the first picture in the gallery. Oak cutlery canteen. OK, I've just cut and pasted the typo and it appeared here correctly :?

Seems to work in Essex, although some of the names/title fonts appear to be chopped off at the bottom. (wouldn't happen in high case)

Hi

Loads fine for me, but seems a little clunky and as said before the images seems to re-size themselves while they are loading.

I feel that it could be tidied up a little, for example on the home page 'Bespoke Cabinet maker and Joiner' is off center.

Have you thought about using style sheets? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cascading_Style_Sheets

I am no way an expert in these things but I have been playing with websites for a fair while and CSS made life so easy when I got in to using them. It gives the whole site a consistent look and feel.

Have you had any response for your site? Have you tried google local maps?

I wish you all the best :)

A good simple informative site

I could not find a mention of where you are based.

Or are you prepared to travel anywhere?

I think the pictures changing shape is because your pictures are all different sizes and the frame is changing to the next picture size still displaying the last one.

Thanks guys. I am based in the Humberside area Mick. Yes you are right about the picture sizes, I have just sorted them out, should work OK now....I hope.

Mailee

Good clear site but I am wondering whether you should put WIP's on the site, for me I would just put the finished articles.

It all seems fine, Alan.

The hyperlinks on the 'ordering' page are not functioning, however.

And I would include your location in your heading on each page. 'Tenko Joinery of Grimsby', perhaps.

Perhaps not!

Works for me.

Can't say I like the name either

will Pinky nick your portifolio photos, I wonder

Looks good.

Not 100% sure about Tenko, but maybe the younger generation wont make a connection?

All the best with your venture in any case. 8)
