This "award" system would get my vote , and although some might argue it creates a "have and have nots" we are adults here, mostly, and I think can be trusted to take it for what it is, besides which members like Custard, Sgian Dubh, AndyT and others deserve a bit of recognition for new members or lurkers or browsers to be able to see that if the info comes from them, it's a good idea to give a lot of attention, rather than "just another guys viewpoint". We know their histories and from whence that information is coming, but new members won't.

maybe some sort of "resident guru" title? VISIBLE, not under the hidden clicky.

I also think the dislike system needs removal especially considering there is now an automatic censorship with too many dislikes - who thought that was a good idea....?

I'm also not here either, but apparently Roxie is, and err... no wait, Roxie has gone and CJH is here, but back on page 1 meanwhile, Roxie is still there, so I guess the fault is in the page system.

so why does that not recognise theres at least one member browsing?
I suspect the forum is smart enough to assume you know you're here and doesn't bother insulting your intelligence by telling you so...?

It's not telling me anyone else is here but CHJ on THIS page, it seems as though almost no other members can see even when other members are on.

Yebbut that's where the confusion lies Tasky.
In the box "WHO IS ONLINE" it states " Users browsing this forum" where it maybe should say "thread".
At time of writing it lists three members plus 7 guests, apparently I'm also invisible.

You need to click to see who is online and assemble a register of all those who are in the same forum, versus those in the same thread, cross-referenced with what can be seen by other users when you are definitely in the same thread as them, compile a statistical analysis and finally report back... I can't help you until then, I'm afraid.

Life's too short Tasky, got more interesting things to do than cross-referencing sounds like work to me and not a welcome thought in retirement.
Assuming of course that you aren't posting tongue in cheek. - As if!

My suggestion was to have the "Like" and convert the dislike to a "Thank". The dislike to my mind is totally negative and serves no useful purpose. If you genuinely dislike something post politely saying why.

I totally agree, dislike buttons are for kids on social media and have no place on a forum like this.

So if we have a dislike why does it not show up who disliked? :D

Never mind all that, birthdays aren't shown.

Mine today!

Nah, it's the modern world, you know - I think you'd be surprised to find out how many retired people are into cross-referencing... just make sure the wife is aware of your proclivities, first!!
