I have a cherry dining table - round with a central leaf. The leaf, despite being out rarely has had a couple of accidents - the finish is OK but I know it is not !! (if that makes sense).

The finish is waxed and at one place there's a ring of slightly raised grain from some time ago, and then last night a wine bottle went over and took a jug of hot caramel sauce with it. That has taken the surface off the finish and polishing up with bees wax polish is not bringing it back up again - the surface is OK but won't shine !

What's the way to get this back to pristine condition please.
