Wax on Oil

Here I have installed a maple desk for my office. As demonstrated by my boy. For speed I have coated it with 3 coats of quick dry Rustins top oil (waterbased)

Do you think I can apply a final coat of beeswax at the very end a? Just to give it a nice smooth finish. The wax should just sit happily on top of the oil shouldn’t it?

yes to wax, no to beeswax.

wax sits on top of oil fine. beeswax has a very low melting point and will quickly become sticky. a microcrystalline wax would be ideal here. it wont show the finger marks and wont become sticky.

beeswax melts at 61-63c
microcrystalline between 61 and 93 depending on what's in it.
choose carefully.
