Just a quick update to say the first course went well, way beyond my expectations. In fact all the students have enroled for the next one so the next Thursday evening course is already fully booked.

For those that expressed an interest before there is also a Saturday course next term. It'll run on June 6th, 13th & 27th 9.30 to 3.30. There is also a summer school for 3 consecutive days Monday 29th June to Wednesday 1st July.

If anyone wants to know more feel free to contact me. Bear in mind it may take a couple of weeks to get back to you as I'm on my travels again.

Regards

Excellent. Only questsion is how did you get the job

Good to know that there is that much interest out there. Lucky to have a good tutor as well

Pete

Glad to see you continuing with the project Mark, a bit of a steep learning curve converting one-to-one tuition to structured group courses having to encompass diverse abilities. May you have the opportunity to expand the venture further.

How does the class work Mark? Does each individual student have a lathe or is it more demo then wait your turn?

Thanks for all the comments and support.

Pete, the college approached me at the Stoneleigh show and asked me to set the courses up. Little did I know the work involved :)

Wizer, each student has their own lathe and tools. I set the task for the session with handouts for each student. There is a lot of flexibility so not all the students do the same task. It depends on their level of competency.

Let me guess, lesson plans, health & safety, session prep....etc etc etc. The lesson probably takes up less than half the total time involved. If it's any consolation, once you have got it all set up it is usually repeatable for the next lot so the work load does go down. Is it classed as a recreational course or is it aligned to a training course?

It's classed as recreational which is great because I'm not tied to a syllabus and can be totally flexible and so cater for individual students' different levels of competency.
