Hi everyone

Well yesterday I was using the above saw and all of a sudden it started making. Horrendous noise upon starting the blade and stopping the blade. I thought it might be the blade guard catching but it turns out the blade was loose! It’s held on with a torx head screw which I immediately tightened. Just thought I’d post this to make others aware in case they have a similar saw. I for one will always be checking tightness of said screw before every use from now on.

Cheers
Pete

...that’s the last thing you want flying off towards you...

Please think rationally about what you are suggesting. How many threads of the securing screw do you need to unwind before the screw and securing flange can be removed? At what point between fully-secured and able-to-be-removed will drive to the blade cease?

Does the normal rotation direction of the saw promote tightening or loosening of the screw? If so, frequent checking, with the risk of overtightening, will make it difficult to remove the blade next time it is to be changed.

Secure it once, secure it properly and then leave it alone.

A casual comment not meant to be taken literally, as for how far the securing nut has to come undone I’d personally not ever like to find out . I’m sure if was at the point of leaving the arbor the op would have realised this before continuing using it .

It's never happened on the miter saw, but once the blade came loose on the table saw.

I noticed because it didn't brake as quick.

It was loose about half a turn.

No danger really and easily fixed.

It sounds as the effect of braking the Motor caused the inertia of the blade to loosed the securing nut.
