Oh that's nice!
The National Collection of Domestic Toolboxes continues to expand!
Can we see inside, please?

slightly nerdy question, but I noticed the brand name 'anvil' is in quotes - was this common practice for brand names in the past ? C&J Hampton did the same with 'Record' in the early days, which I had assumed was just a quirk of this firm..

Yes, very common.

I suppose you'd put the name (wrongly) in quotes to avoid people assuming there was an anvi in the box :-D

An ass-covering exercise, even back in those days, maybe?

Come on Andy, we've done the label, can we see the contents now?
Or we could start trying to guess a date... I'd say somewhere between the 1920s and the 1950s from the style of the label but it's only a guess.

Alas it is with a hefty amount of disappointment I have to say it is devoid of contents.
The contents are listed on the inside of the lid, another picture to follow forthwith.......
I need to trawl a few box's as I have one of those affinities for the brand and hope to fill it up a bit 8)
Cheers
Andy

Not easy this picture malarkey when you can't see what you're taking
