Vintage UK parallel, searching for info

Hi.

I just found what i guess is a vintage magnetic induction parallel pair. See pics-

They are marked- ”Eclipse type ”A” regd in uk” - on top
And numbers ”9098” on bottom (Maybe 8606 but really looks like 9098..

They are a bit rusty so I need to get that sorted out.

Measurments are in mm roughly 76x60x31 but they are probably not specced in mm at all..

Magnetism is gone, is it possible to charge them again?

To my eye material looks like steel and
brass.

If anybody have any knowledge and like to inform me I would be greatful.

I find them beautiful and like to restore and use them again so all input is welcome..

They're magnetic transfer blocks. You use them with a mag chuck and they allow the magnetism to be transferred to the part. You can use them as parallels or machine them to constrain a small or awkwardly shaped part.

Agree with TFrench we used them way back with mag chucks on surface grinders
We used them for fixturing odd shaped parts very much like you would use a soft jaw in a chuck or vice.
Haven't seen any for years I will dig around in my old text books as from memory Eclipse were part of the Neil Tool Group and I had a really useful guide book / crib book detailing many things

Thankyou for information, I”ll probably find some use for them, or just enjoy them for the massive weight and fine machined surface..Will look fantastic after polishing.
