Not a joke, unfortunately.
Somebody in my house who shall remain nameless, not me, [ there are only two of us!], knocked a brand new unopened gallon tin of varnish off a dining chair onto the carpet where it burst open! [ @$%&&!!!... ]
What is the best way to deal with it? Any advice? It's too late for me but should somebody else find themself in that situation.....
I scooped up as much as possible back into the tin. It still left a patch about 16" across. I am letting it harden for a few days, and have this rather nice rug on order. If I ever feel the need there will be a 1/200 scale skating rink immediately to hand.
For the technically minded, it was interior satin varnish. Should anyone need a tin of instant paint-on hairy coat, I have half a gallon going cheap.
