I put this in general woodworking and nobody made any comments :?
Thought I would try it here see if you guys are interested.

I am testing out photobucket (thanks to TEP for the info)

I thought some of you might be interested in this.
My school did a performance of We Will Rock You. The drama teacher only wanted a van some 8 foot pillars the set building and a fake ele guitar, no problems hmm.

The van is a wooden frame, chicken wire, wall paper paste, news paper, MG windscreen, Nova grill, Nova lights and a road kill bumper Toyota I think.
It was good fun to make, I am not responsible for the dodgy looking door.

Looks like my old van.
Folk on the forum like to see photo's, p'raps some work in progress?

Are you a student, or staff?
And how'd the show go?

Cheers

Neil

Nice one Neil.
Staff
The show was really good, the kids did a great job. I am not sure what they are doing this year, another singing and dancing number. More set not so many props by all accounts.
It is good to get involved, the only downside is there always ends up being too many people making decisions, so what they want changes all the time.
I hang back to the last minute and they get what they are given :D

Hi Rich

So, what do you teach?
I had a woodwork teacher at middle school who was the closest thing to inspiration I got in my youth. Good guy. I think a good teacher can make a world of difference to kids, and think attitude rather than direct knowledge is important.

I would've thought the idea of making the props for their own show would make the kids want to get involved - did they actually do hands on work with the props? Or are they maybe to young? I do some work with a special needs group, mostly woodwork, but some sports, and find half the battle is keeping their attention!!

Good work mate! Nice one! Sorry you didn't get more replies, nowt queer as folk, eh?

Neil

I teach woodwork, well we are trying to get as much woodwork back as possible.
The kids enjoyed working on the props and you are getting kids involved who are not in the cast. This gives the play more of a whole school feel, which is nice.
I hope you continue to do your work with kids, it can be very rewarding

Hi Rich, my Dad used to do this kind of thing for the local comunity centre and the amatuer dramatics group, I used to think it was amazing what you could do with some old hardboard and plywood.

I'm suprised you didn't use any fairy liquid bottles
