lol beau nobody worse at that than me.thanks bob ye for me if i see a tree i don't know can usually find it by leaf etc on the net,but when i go the tree surgeons yard i am picking through stuff i have no idea what it is so then it becomes way to much work.also i am more on the manual side than the academic side.

also its free, but not every cloud has a silver lining its rough splits checked etc so say i have a 12" round might only be good for a 6" bowl, but its free so i cant really complain this is why i use a lot of resin, but he is not like a council tree surgeon logs piled 10 foot high he is more domestic.even i know this one lol.

Well i put it round back of shed i hate the process of cutting blanks, but when i do i cut out the pith end up with couple of blanks i then rough turn them into usually bowls and put them in my diy kiln an old freezer and a bulb, usually they dry within 2 weeks then finish them.

couple shots of kiln temp is a little low bit cold over night i think, usually up around 115/120 f.sometimes i get splitting in bowls which can happen even with air drying this is why i use resin then there is a lot less waste.the bowl in the top the big one is 14" diameter.

I for one have a Eucalyptus and a palm tree in my garden (not by me) and you don't see many of those in your average mixed deciduous British copse do you :)-)

No palm trees in my garden but I do have, among many others, four eucalyptus, two cercidiphyllum japonicum and acer campestre, one each of parrotia persica, davidia involucrata, liquidamber styraciflua, sorbus aucuparia and eunonymus elata, all, except the eucalyptus, chosen for autumn colour. I also have one flowering and two fruiting cherry trees, and agree with the bark identification.

I like trees :D
